Structures and Construction of HP- Shell Structures
Initiated with a thorough research of the main types of structures and constructions of shell structures, the project analyses capabilities of different structural systems and construction methods. By comparing and contrasting them, testing with series of analogue models, research is focused on the influence of structure to overall geometry of shell, trying to set up featuring parameters, like readability of structure, characteristic morphologies, capacity of openings and perforation, surface treatment, ratio to spanned space, etc.
Initially the project investigates structural and geometrical qualities of hyperbolic paraboloid, by exploring its specific morphological behavior and variations of its structural mesh, its deformation and impact to force behavior and resulting form.
Bringing the research further the project deals with hybrid constructions, their structural capacity, manner of transition, force distribution and semiotic potential.
The main organizational unit – sport – governs the specifics of the functional and social types and their interrelations, adding new layers of distinction and spatial scenarios.
